Contradance with Putnam Smith & Sassafras

Stomp at the Thomaston Academy

A contradance to benefit the Thomaston Public Library will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, at the Thomaston Academy gym on Main Street Thomaston. The public event will feature banjo player Putnam Smith and the band Sassafras Stomp, along with Sarah Smith calling the dances. No experience or partner is necessary, all ages are welcome and and all dances will be taught. This dance is taking the place of the regular monthly contradance at Simonton Corners in Rockport. Librarian Joanna Hynd says, “I am looking forward to an exciting night of live music and dancing in Thomaston.”

The Thomaston Public Library is located at 60 Main St. in the Thomaston Academy Building. Public Parking is located at the rear entrance. This event is $8 for people over the age of 12 and free for children under 12. For more information call 832-5584 or 354-2453.
