NOVEMBER Benefits & Good Works

GOOD WORKS
There seems to be more Good Works to report this month than there is Benefits. If you have a benefit you’d like to add to this blog, please email me at southendstories@aol.com. Also see the separate blog listing the annual Christmas and craft fairs in your area. That list will be updated throughout the month also.

SAVING THE TIGER
Thanks go to the Lincoln Center for preserving and displaying our beloved Rockland Tiger which came from the front of the old Rockland District High School building, now Oceanside High School. Pictured here with the tiger are Lincoln Center Director, Angela Anderson Pomerlean and Ben Perry, curator and historian of the Alumni Heritage Room at the center.

LONZA EMPLOYEES HELP OUT AT ERICKSON FIELDS
Pictured here are three Lonza employees, from left to right: Christopher Veilleux, Leslie Sprowl, and Debra Jackson, as they help harvest and clean carrots from the field. They volunteered to help out the three teenagers who usually work in the fields, who had to return to school. The field produces food to help out area food pantries. Lonza Rockland, Inc., a Rockland firm, supplies pharmaceuticals and health supplies.

CAMDEN LIONS SORT WASTE FOR GOOD WORKS
Brenda Miller, a Camden Lion, sorts returnables at the Midcoast Solid Waste facility in this picture. If you bring your waste to the facility you can also donate your returnables to the Lions, who will use the money earned to fund their many charitable projects such as: holiday baskets; elder care and social service donations; maintaining the Camden Veterans Memorial; decorating downtown with US flags;  providing eye exams and glasses…to name a few. Help the Lions out, they deserve it.

CAMDEN NATIONAL BANK DONATES TO LIFEFLIGHT
Camden National Bank made a donation to LifeFlight. LifeFlight provides free helicopter transportation to the critically ill or to injured patients.

GOOD INTENTIONS CLUB
THANKS GIVEN TO WARREN ODD FELLOWS
The Good Intentions Quilters, whose members meet at the Warren Odd Fellows Hall, wanted to thank their hosts for a place to meet every week. As a thank you they made a quilt for the Odd Fellows to auction off to benefit the many charities the Odd Fellows sponsor. The drawing will be held November 17 at the Thursday Night Bingo night.
