The Hilton Homestead

This historical picture of my Uncle Carl is the beginning of a new project by cousin Mary Sue Weeks and me. The 100 farm in Bremen, which dates from before the American Revolution, will not be left idle to deteriorate and become another site of falling-in buildings along the road as you travel by the property as, sadly, so many farms in Maine have gone. Details of plans for the property in the future cannot be revealed at this time, but look for many more exciting things to come which doesn’t include, thankfully, the parceling out of the property for home sites and the like. I will also post a special documentary about the farm this week.

Mary Sue’s father, Carl Hilton, as a young boy on the farm with his oxen. He would later be involved in other activities off the farm and also was elected Selectman for the town of Bremen and to the Maine House of Representatives. He was in his 90s when he passed away.
