If you’d like to view your fall foliage from the deck of a windjammer, I can hook you up with one of my favorite ships, the Nathaniel Bowditch. They recently emailed their fall trip schedule to me. Here are some good choices for fall trips:
Wooden Boat Sail-In
Sept. 11-17
Explore the bay and really get some fantastic sailing in. At mid-week the final official gathering of the fleet on the grounds of the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin, Maine, takes place. The Maine Windjammer Fleet will anchor and go ashore for live music, mussels, and light snacks. It’s a chance to mingle with guests from other boats and watch the sunset while at anchor.
Special Friends Get-a-Way
Sept. 22-24
A way to sample windjamming. Two nights at anchor, wonderful fall sailing. Chef Paul’s amazing creations from the galley, starry nights, beach lobster bake.
Lighthouse Discovery Cruise
Sept. 25-29
A trip amongst the islands to view majestic, historic lighthouses. Before shoving off, a docent at the Lighthouse Museum in Rockland will take you through the museum. The trip is loosely scheduled, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy the beauty of these waters.
Harvest Celebration/Beer Tasting and Food Pairing
Sept. 30-Oct. 3
Enjoy fabulous food prepared by Chef Paul. It will be paired with local brewmaster Rich Ruggeriero’s variety of beers. He will share his knowledge each evening with a food and beer tasting session. The sailing is also amazing.
Octoberfest
October 4-8
The Nathaniel Bowditch will top off the season with a relaxing four day trip to see fall foliage.
Enjoy your Trip!
