“Run Lola Run” film by Saltwater Film Society, April 25, 6:30pm
The Saltwater Film Society continues its library film series with something different. Run Lola Run is a wild and exciting fast-paced movie from Germany that cannot be neatly assigned to a type or genre. The plot is simple: Lola has 20 minutes to come up with 100,000 marks that her boyfriend Manni owes to drug dealers, otherwise he’s going to have to rob a store to get it. Ingeniously, we are treated to three versions of her run (or perhaps alternative universes), events unfold differently depending on the choices she makes in the beginning. The attention to detail is stunning, and every little image and incident is relevant to the taut plotting. A wonderfully choreographed study of time and space.
Decoy Display
Through the month of April, Thomaston Public Library is
displaying working duck and shorebird decoys carved and painted by Thomaston resident Paul
Perkins. The decoys are similar to those used by market hunters along the eastern seaboard
during the nineteenth century.“Run Lola Run” film by Saltwater Film Society, April 25, 6:30pm

Mr. Perkins began carving decoys in his early teens, under
the guidance of his father, the late Percy Perkins, whose decoys are well known throughout the
country and sought by collectors. The collection on display in the library includes shorebirds
and wading birds such as herons, egrets, sandpipers,
and avocets, along with a large number of ducks, including mallards mergansers, and goldeneyes. In all, 34 decoys are on
display. The decoy collection is available for public viewing in the Main Room of the library during
all open hours through the month of April.
